The suction trap is an accessory for the refrigeration systems. Its function consists on protecting the compressors from any return of liquid ammonia from the evaporator. The suction trap is built with two horizontal tanks. The first separates the liquid ammonia from the ammonia gas; the gas is returned to the compressors and the liquid ammonia falls by gravity to the inferior tank, where is stored. The liquid ammonia goes to the evaporators or the ammonia receiver when the tank reaches its capacity.
Suction traps are designed and calculated according to the number of compressors in the refrigeration system and the amount of ammonia that moves within the system.
The suction traps are made of carbon steel tube, with a control panel capable to operate in manual and automatic mode; safety valves in both tanks; solenoid valves for their operation and automatic controls of level and all the required valves for service.
